Well here we are way into spring, it's going to be May (bring on all the N’Sync memes)! I forgot how beautiful spring is on the east coast, as well as how awful allergies are, thank you pollen. Still, it’s nice to have this change in scenery and experience spring as flowers and cherry blossoms are in full bloom and daisies everywhere including fashion trends. Floral dresses, shirts, pants, accessories, and even on nails! & yes even I have to admit I went a little flower power crazy too, and decorated my lilac nails with white daisies.
Bright fashion, pastels and florals are everywhere, even fashion icon Rihanna has been seen rocking a teal Hawaiian style floral shirt with heels in her own true style while on a grocery run to Bristol Farms (more on her look). So I guess it's time for me to start dressing up again. All kidding aside, I am more optimistic about this change in season with the large boom in vaccinations across our country. I’m not trying to relive the past year of being stuck inside in sweats so I've brought out from storage all of my favorite pastel pink, lilac, baby blue shirts, bright pants, and neon accessories, putting together outfits and matching my nails and makeup. It’s amazing how a bright outfit can really cheer a girl up! This whole change in scenery and wardrobe has been a game changer for my mood! I guess Elle Woods had it right all along dressing up in various shades of fashionable pink.
I am also really digging the retro styles making a comeback: Through the nails of instagram, I’ve seen funky designs and modern french manicures in bright shades, trends that debuted when I was in high school. & let’s not forget the jewelry, especially big chunky rings in all colors, with smileys, initials and more daisies, basically all the bright plastic acrylic jewelry and jellies we used to buy from Claire’s and Limited Too. Even Juicy is making a comeback! No surprise of course, they were one of the most popular brands of the 2000s, everyone including their mothers (cool moms of course) were seen wearing bright tracksuits with it's signature brand logo etched in rhinestones on your behind.
So what is it about this year that people have opted to bring back these retro jewelry and fashion trends? Is it nostalgia or just recycling the old clothes and jewelry we found in our childhood home? Regardless I am here for it, bring on all your nostalgic 2000s trends and I'll meet you there right after I rummage through my parents' house for my old Juicy tracksuits, chunky rings, and jelly bracelets.
XO,
Rose Gold Sunnies
